To manage our capacity and better serve you, we are scheduling tax appointments for our clients this year. We've provided answers to some of the questions our clients may have.
Please contact us with any questions or concerns.
What is a tax appointment?
Tax appointments are the latest date that you should deliver your tax documents to our office. They are NOT in-person conferences. To schedule an in-person, telephone, or video conference contact our office.
Why are you scheduling tax appointments this year?
Over the last several years tax season has become more and more compressed. Our clients are receiving some of their tax documents later into the season, some aren't available until March 25 or after. Other clients have had tax documents lost in the mail and it has taken two weeks to get replacement documents. These and other reasons delay the preparation of income tax returns; however, our due date remains the same. The result is we simply do not have the capacity to prepare any more returns during the last few weeks of tax season. Scheduling tax appointments will give clients a clear date to deliver their tax documents to our office so their tax return can be prepared timely. It will also allow us to communicate the need to extend their return if their documents are not available.
How do I schedule my appointment?
We pre-scheduled many of our clients' tax appointments and sent emails and letters notifying them of their date.
Some clients were notified that they should contact us to schedule their appointment.
If you received your letter with a date and can provide us with your tax documents on or before your date, no further action is required; we look forward to receiving your tax documents on or before the date of your tax appointment.
If you were instructed to contact our office to schedule your tax appointment or if you would like to reschedule an existing appointment to a later date, visit our scheduling webpage or contact our office.
Do I have to meet with someone during my tax appointment?
No, tax appointments are not in-person conferences. They are the latest date that you should deliver your tax documents to our office for the preparation of your income tax return.
How do you schedule tax appointments?
We have scheduled capacity as follows:
- February 3 - March 23, 2026: 60 tax appointments per week. We will add additional appointments if our capacity allows. Therefore, if you are added to our waiting list, it is possible an appointment date may become available; however, there are no guarantees. If no appointments become available, we will extend your income tax return and schedule you for the first available date thereafter.
- March 24 - April 30, 2026: No appointments are scheduled. We'll be delivering returns from tax appointments in late March, preparing extensions, and preparing first-quarter payroll tax returns.
- May 1 - August 15, 2026: 30 tax appointments per week.
- After August 15, 2026: No tax appointments are scheduled
What if I haven't received all of my documents by the date of my tax appointment?
We understand that a few of your tax documents, such as a Schedule K-1 from a trust, S corporation, or partnership, may not be available by your tax appointment date. You should bring in your other tax documents on or before your appointment date and provide us with the missing tax documents as soon as they become available.
If a Schedule K-1 or other document will not be available within one week of your tax appointment date, we will assign you a new date or place you on the waiting list, which could result in an extension being filed for your return.
I need a later appointment. Can I reschedule?
Yes, you may submit a request for a later date. Visit our online services page or contact our office and we will review available appointments with you.
I need an earlier appointment. Can I reschedule?
Yes, but it may not be necessary. You can deliver your documents anytime on or before the date of your tax appointment without rescheduling. However, if you need your tax return prepared before a certain date, you will need to submit a request for an earlier appointment. Visit our online services page or contact our office and we will review available appointments with you.
Do you have a waiting list?
Yes, if you need a new date, but no appointments are available, we will add you to our waiting list. As appointments become available or if we add more capacity we will contact you with a new date. If no dates become available, we will extend your income tax return and schedule its preparation after May 1.
Will I receive my return on my appointment date?
No, the tax appointment is the latest date you should deliver your documents to our office. We will need time to scan, enter, and prepare your income tax return. Our goal is for returns to be delivered for signing within two weeks of your appointment date. This doesn't mean it will take us the full two weeks. In early February we may have your return ready for signing within a couple of days, but as we get later into the filing season more time will be needed to prepare your return.
